Case Study IV

Dr. Muller has been mentoring Aaron, a bright and enthusiastic undergraduate, for some time in his capacity as academic advisor. Aaron is still deciding what he wants to do with his life and at times lacks motivation and focus. Dr. Muller has been helping him with course selections, improving his study habits, and long-term career goals. Aaron visits Dr. Muller in his office at least twice a week, often spending an hour or more updating his mentor on the recent developments in Aaron's life.

Dr. Muller has become fond of Aaron and thinks Aaron is destined for great things, given the proper guidance. He allows Aaron to sit in his office to talk or do homework for as long as he wants. He checks to make sure Aaron registers on time and completes his homework assignments. He routinely revises his writing, even working on very rough drafts. On occasion, he has loaned him money.
