The Ethics of Science by David B. Resnik (New York: Routledge, 1998) provides a useful overview of a wide range of issues related to the responsible conduct of research.

The Principles of Biomedical Ethics, 4th ed. by Tom L. Beauchamp and James F. Childress (New York: Oxford University Press, 1994), while more narrowly focused, contains some general discussions of ethical issues related to research. Both these books are available in the EMU Halle Library.

False Prophets: Fraud and Error in Science and Medicine by Alexander Kohn (New York: Basil Blackwell, 1986) discusses some specific cases of irresponsible conduct in research.
