Part 4: The Review Process at EMU

The Board of Regents of EMU delegated responsibility for implementing and administering the Policy on the Use of Humans as Subjects to the Provost’s Office. The University Human Subjects Review Committee, appointed by the Provost, is responsible for reviewing, exempting, approving, requiring modification to, or in rare cases, disapproving all research activities involving human subjects. This Committee reviews research through an expedited process in certain cases, or by full-board review in others. Additional committees may review student research only. Doctoral-dissertation research, however, is reviewed by the University-level Committee.
